| dc.description | This essay presents an overall picture of the acculturation process that proceed "both ways" in the Guajira during the Eighteenth Century as a result of illicit commercial relations maintained between Europeans and natives of the Guajira. This situation createda state of permanent conflict with the Spaniards who were unable to dominate the people of the region. Thus the traditional establishment of the imposition of one culture over another was revised, giving way to the possibility of mutual influence in this coming together of two cultures. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este ensayo pretende dar una idea general del proceso de aculturación de "doble vía" que se presentó en La Guajira durante el siglo XVIII, como resultado de las relaciones comerciales -principalmente elícitas-mantenidas entre europeos e indígenas, y que generó una situación de permanente conflicto con los españoles por la dificultad de ejercer dominación sobre este pueblo. De esta manera, se altera el planteamiento tradicional de la imposición de elementos de una cultura sobre otra, dando cabida a la posibilidad de influencia mutua en el encuentro de dos culturas. | es-ES |
