| dc.description | At the end of the 19th century, traditional music was one of the few diversions in Colombian social life. The Bogotá Social Gatherings, therefore, incorporated the use of traditional music to develop strong relationships between those in attendance. The gatherings constituted one of the most important practices of communication and human interaction in Colombia. These gatherings promoted social life through conversation, the appreciation of aesthetic beauty and the performance of live folkloric music. Nevertheless, the influx of new technologies transformed Colombian traditional music. As a result, the cultural purpose of the gatherings changed. | en-US |
| dc.description | Al final del siglo XIX, la música tradicional era una de las pocas diversiones en la vida social colombiana. La tertulia de Bogotá, entonces, incorporaba el uso de la música tradiconal para fortalecer las relaciones entre sus asistentes. Las tertulias constuían una de las más importantes prácticas de la comunicación e interacción humana en Colombia. Estas tertulias promovían la vida social a través de la conversación, la apreciación de la belleza estética y la interpretación de la música popular. Sin embargo, el influjo de las nuevas tecnologías transformaron la tradición musical colombiana. Como resultado, el propósito cultural de las tertulias cambió. | es-ES |
