Botanical Gardens all around the world have taken the challenge to become into entities able to promote plants species conservation, this fact has turned them into very ¡important entities with a great responsibility to the global environment conservation. It is estimated that there are approximately 400,000 plant species on the planet and at least 25% of those species are endangered, human activities are the main cause of extinction (BGCI, 2013).In 2002 the first national plan to collect and classify species in the botanical gardens, was agreed between the Ministry of Environment and the National Botanic Garden Network, in order to provide guidelines for the care and conservation of living collections. However, the reality is that this plan needs to be reviewed, make a diagnosis and monitoring of how it has been working so far and how can be improved, evaluate and classify the collected information, develop and provide new standardized working and analysis tools for the national botanical gardens. This paper presents a diagnosis by region and Gardens in them, a DOFA analysis and a National standardized plan for Living Collections at the Botanical Gardens with defined lines of action, rolls and a schedule to develop the project.
