Descripción:
"In NW Córdoba (Argentina), during the last decades goat rising has been an activity typically performed by campesinos. However, we are observing now the emergence of a new social actor devoted to goat rising. This ?new farmers? (NF) are a quite heterogeneous group. They include farmers who are coming from other regions of the country, from other rural activities, and professionals (such as lawyers) and urban entrepreneurs with no previous link with rural production. The NF show peculiar productive features that allows to single them out from traditional campesinos. NF have developed a strategy based in 3 main aspects: a) a semi-intensive approach to the productive process (capital, labour, technology); b) an attempt to produce diverse products from goats (meat, milk, milk sweet, cheese, Billy goats); and c) a less asymmetric articulation with the context where they develop their socio-productive activities (market, social relationships, access to information)."
