dc.description	This article critically discusses the way in which some common readings in political theory have conceived the role of the State in reducing it to a set of institutions that have as their main purpose to secure order, provide security, and social stability. The study pays special attention to the role of the State in both: the government apparatus,, and in “public” institutions —bureaucracy, army, police, courts, social security system, etc.—, responsible for the collective organization of social life. The article also proposes a critical reading of the “Failed State” concept, and some theoretical elements from approaches that identify the State as a uniform and monolithic entity in introducing some of the ideas proposed in the “State in Society” approach by Joel Migdal (2010) that are related to an alternative field of study or interdisciplinary methodology called anthropology of the State.	en-US
dc.description	El presente artículo aborda la manera en que algunas comprensiones recurrentes en la Teoría Política han concebido el papel del Estado. Asimismo critica la forma como lo han reducido a un conjunto de instituciones que tienen como principal propósito garantizar el orden y proveer seguridad y estabilidad social. En tal sentido, a partir de un análisis documental, presenta algunos de los argumentos más contemporáneos en relación al fenómeno del Estado fallido, proponiendo una lectura alterna que trascienda la falla estatal en tanto distorsión del estatus quo del aparato de gobierno o conjunto de instituciones “públicas” —burocracia, ejército, policía, tribunales, sistema de seguridad social, entre otros—, responsables de la organización colectiva de la vida social. Se presenta así una postura en la que el Estado deja de identificarse con una entidad uniforme y monolítica, para lo cual introduce algunas de las ideas contenidas en la teoría del State in Society de Joel Migdal (2001), las cuales se relacionan con un campo de estudios alternativo o dominio híbrido denominado antropología del Estado.	es-ES
