Les noves tecnologies de la comunicació ens ofereixen la possibilitat de comunicació de molts a molts i aquesta capacitat ha permès la creació de grups, associacions i famílies. Les comunitats virtuals és el terme usat per a referir-se a aquests grups socials formats per la mediació dels ordinadors i "sorgeixen de la Xarxa quan una quantitat suficient de gent porta a terme discussions públiques durant prou temps, amb prou sentiments humans com per formar xarxes de relacions personals en l'espai cibernètic". Els membres d'aquestes comunitats fan pràcticament tot el que podem fer en la 'vida real' sense cos, però: discutir, fer amics i perdre'ls, flirtejar i enamorar-se, jugar, xerrar per xerrar i perdre el temps, fer negocis, donar-se suport moral i psicològic, intercanviar idees i informacions, etc. Alguns hi dediquen moltes hores al dia, d'altres en fan un ús molt més moderat. | ca-ES |

The new communications technologies offer us the possibility to communicate from many to many and this capacity has allowed the creation of groups, associations and families. The virtual communities are the term used to refer to these social groups formed by the mediation of computers and "arise from the Net when a sufficient number of people carry out public discussions for a long time, with enough human feelings to form networks of personal relationships in the cyber space".
