Their approaches have withstood the passage of time and have become established as classics. The sociohistorical conditions that make such a phenomenon possible in a scientific discipline are certainly an area of interest for the "sociology of knowledge", to which Mannheim devoted great efforts.Much has been written about the relationship between Weber and Simmel, or between Simmel and Lukács. However, relatively little is known about the tie between Simmel and Mannheim. What influence could the Berliner have had on the sociology of the Hungarian-born author?
