dc.description	This paper presents an ethnographic study of subjective relations between civilians and paramilitaries, demonstrating forms of adaptation, discretion and instrumentalization, and the social legitimation of violence. In addition to reviewing the theoretical contributions of the anthropology of violence, the paper discusses ethical and methodological dilemmas of ethnographic work in armed conflict analysis, and the treatment of testimonies and memories. These discussions are supported by a documentary and ethnographic review in the district of the municipality of El Jordán-San Carlos, which, since 1997, served as an operation center of different paramilitary groups whose area of influence was eastern Antioquia and who went there based on their family ties.	en-US
dc.description	Este artículo expone una investigación etnográfica sobre las relaciones subjetivas entre civiles y paramilitares evidenciando las formas de adaptación, discreción e instrumentalización y legitimación social de la violencia. Además de revisar los aportes teóricos de la antropología de la violencia, discute los dilemas éticos-metodológicos del trabajo etnográfico en el análisis del conflicto armado, el tratamiento del testimonio y la(s) memoria(s). Estas discusiones están apoyadas en una revisión documental y etnográfica en el corregimiento de El Jordán, municipio de San Carlos, que desde 1997 fue base operativa de distintos bloques paramilitares quienes entraron allí por lazos familiares y operaron en el Oriente antioqueño.	es-ES
