The purpose of the present paper is to show the most important elements in Lacan ́s presentation related to the section titled The Essence of Tragedyin his seminar The Ethics of Psychoanalysis, by extracting from it the nodal aspects between ethics and tragedy. This commentary, despite being ruled by the lessons in the above mentioned section, will use Sophocles’ works as a direct reference to find the aspects dealing with tragedy. This is an attempt to set some consequences related to the analytical experience and the statute of the subject and the Other within the frame of the ethics of tragedy.El presente texto tiene por objetivo mostrar los elementos relevantes de la exposición de Lacan a propósito del apartado intitulado La Esencia de la Tragedia del seminario la Ética del Psicoanálisis, extrayendo de allí los aspectos nodales entre la ética y la tragedia. Dicho comentario, pese a estar reglado por las lecciones que corresponden al apartado en cuestión, tendrán como referencia directa la obra de Sófocles para dar luz a lo correspondiente con la tragedia. Con ello se pretende fijar algunas consecuencias en relación con la experiencia analítica y el estatuto del sujeto y del Otro en el marco de la ética trágica.Ce texte cherche à montrer les éléments remarquables de l’exposition de Lacan concernant la section appelé L’essence de la tragédie du séminaire l’Éthique de la psychanalyse, en y prenant les aspects nodaux entre l’éthique et la tragédie. Un tel commentaire, bien qu’il soit tempéré par les leçons qui correspondent à la section dont il s’agit, prendra comme référence directe l’œuvre de Sophocle, pour faire la lumière sur tout ce en rapport avec la tragédie. Ainsi, l’on prétend fixer certaines conséquences en rapport avec l’expérience analytique et le statut du sujet et de l’Autre dans le cadre de l’éthique tragique.
