| dc.description | Although homosexuality was removed from the diagnostic manual of mental disorders (DSM and CIE) several decades ago, the situation in the field of psychotherapy has not been settled. Today, different treatments for homosexuality coexists and differ both in its aims and in its techniques. In this review article, the current situation of psychological treatments for homosexual orientation are discussed. First the historical processes that have shaped the current situation of homosexuality and these treatments are discussed. Then, the current therapeutic trends to attend to homosexual consultants are characterized: reparative therapies and affirmative therapies. Finally, other therapeutic modalities that posit a not affirmative / not reparative approach are discussed. | en-US |
| dc.description | A pesar de que la homosexualidad fue retirada de los manuales diagnósticos de enfermedades mentales (DSM y CIE) hace varias décadas, la situación de esta en el campo de la psicoterapia no ha sido zanjada. Hoy día, coexisten diferentes terapias para la homosexualidad cada una con objetivos y técnicas diferentes. Este artículo de revisión, examina la situación actual de los tratamientos psicológicos para la homosexualidad. En primer lugar, se abordan los procesos históricos que han dado forma a la situación actual de la homosexualidad. Luego, se caracterizan y discuten las dificultades de los tratamientos actuales: las terapias reparativas y afirmativas. Por último, se describen diversos abordajes no afirmativos/no reparativos. | es-ES |
