| dc.description | This essay tries to offer a historic outlook of the emancipatory impulses that go through Latin America, from its independence movements until the different ways to understand emancipation in the last four decades. From the ambiguities of origin (between republicanism and caudillismo, first and second class citizens, popular ethics and the de facto power of the estate) to the enlightenment of the left in the 1960s and 1970s, the region has been looking for its own ways of redeem colonialism or inequality. Today the big stories are overshadowed by the postmodern disenchantment and the ri-gors of globalization, but new libertarian faces continue being reworked from the discourse of identity and difference and from the denaturation of liberal democracy for the purpose of opening the history toward new possible ways of collective order. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este ensayo procura ofrecer un panorama histórico de las pulsiones emancipatorias que recorren a América Latina desde sus movimientos independentistas hasta las distintas formas de entender la emancipación en las últimas cuatro décadas. Desde las ambigüedades de origen (entre republicanismo y caudillismo, ciudadanos de primera y segunda categoría, la épica popular y el poder fáctico de lo estamental) hasta el iluminismo de izquierda en los años sesenta y setenta del siglo pasado, la región ha buscado sus propias formas de redimir el colonialismo o la desigualdad. Hoy los grandes relatos se ven opacados por el desencanto postmoderno y los rigores de la globalización, pero no dejan de reelaborarse nuevos rostros libertarios desde el discurso de la identidad y la diferencia, y desde la desnaturalización de la democracia liberal, en procura de abrir la historia hacia nuevas formas posibles de orden colectivo. | es-ES |
