Si hubiera vivido en la edad media, el poeta sería, sin duda, sin embargo, un incansable peregrino o, mejor, un goliardo que hubiera cambiado el sosiego de los monasterios por el bullicio nocturno de una taberna o los vericuetos de algún villorrio, por cuyas callejuelas oscuras deambularía, portando en una mano un farol apagado y en la otra el cayado de un pastor sin ovejas; nada más. | |
| dc.description | The origin of the word "breviary" (compendium of psalms and liturgical prayers), seems to be alien to our Carlos Arnulfo Arias, so little friend of liturgical offices, of Catholic dogmas. If he had lived in the Middle Ages, however, the poet would undoubtedly be a tireless pilgrim or, better, a goliard who would have exchanged the tranquility of monasteries for the nocturnal bustle of a tavern or the byways of some village, for whose dark alleys I would wander, carrying in one hand an unlit lantern and in the other the staff of a shepherd without sheep; nothing more. | |
