Process of learning English as a foreign language: Integration of the virtual Freerice platform

dc.description	The sports teaching and training have changed due to Covid-19, which is why virtual platforms have been advancing and improving. The objective of the research was to analyze the scope of the Freerice application through its implementation in an A2 level English course with students from first semester in a University Institution. A pre-test was applied to the first semester students of groups A and E with a sample of 35 subjects, to use their results for the creation of teaching strategies with the Freerice application. The control group was intervened with the application and finally in the last period of the semester the post-test was applied to compare and evaluate the efficiency of the Freerice application. In the data analysis, it was evidenced how the application supported the development of the course and through it the students had a greater learning of the English language, a variable that was determined in a comparative exercise with an experimental group. As a conclusion, it is established that the Freerice application is a virtual learning tool that positively impacts and enriches the educational training process, in a didactic way, helping in the development of autonomy and responsibility by the students.	en-US
dc.description	Los procesos de enseñanza y formación han cambiado debido al Covid-19, con ello las plataformas virtuales han venido avanzando y mejorando. El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar el alcance de la aplicación Freerice mediante su implementación en un curso de inglés del nivel A2 con estudiantes de primer semestre de una Institución Universitaria. Se aplicó un pretest a estudiantes de primer semestre de los grupos A y E con una muestra de 35 sujetos, con el fin de usar sus resultados para la creación de estrategias de enseñanza con la aplicación Freerice, una vez realizado este pretest el grupo control fue intervenido con la aplicación; finalmente, en el último periodo del semestre se aplicó el postest con el fin de comparar y evaluar la eficiencia de la aplicación. En el análisis de datos se evidenció cómo la aplicación Freerice apoyó el desarrollo del curso y a través de ella los estudiantes tuvieron un mayor aprendizaje del idioma inglés, variable que se logró determinar en un ejercicio comparativo con un grupo experimental. Como conclusión se establece que la aplicación Freerice es una herramienta virtual de aprendizaje que impacta de manera positiva y enriquece el proceso de formación educativa, de manera didáctica, promoviendo el desarrollo de la autonomía y responsabilidad en los estudiantes.	es-ES
