This paper presents reflections about the impact of ideology on the social representations of gender relations in Women’s Health and Men’s Health magazines. For this, a content analysis was made according to Bardin, that resulted in eight thematic categories, which are: body, gender, clothing and fashion, beauty tips, timelessness, immediacy, health and time out of the gym. The data were analyzed from the perspective of feminist gender studies, inspired in the books of gender and contemporary collection. The results revealed the existence of gender stereotypes in the social representations of the magazines studied, transmitted in the media and which have a strong ideological impact on contemporary society. Therefore, it´s s not only a magazine for the health care and welfare like the title of these suggests. Stereotypes are presented based on patriarchal social patterns that still persists, alienate and lead to “consumption of bodies”, showing the needing to change the way of being and living in the contemporary world.Este trabajo presenta reflexiones sobre la incidencia de ideología en las representaciones sociales de las relaciones de género existentes en las Revistas Women’s Health y Men’s Health. Con esta finalidad fue realizado un análisis de contenido de acuerdo con Bardin, que resultó en ocho categorías temáticas, que son: cuerpo, sexo, vestimenta y moda, consejos de belleza, atemporalidad, inmediatez, salud y un tiempo fuera del gimnasio. Los datos fueron analizados desde la perspectiva de los estudios feministas de género, inspirados en las obras de la serie género y contemporaneidad. Los resultados apuntan a la existencia de estereotipos de género en las representaciones sociales de las revistas estudiadas, transmitidos en los medios de comunicación y que tienen un fuerte impacto ideológico en la sociedad contemporánea. Por lo tanto, no es solamente un medio para el cuidado de la salud y el bienestar, que el título de las revistas sugieren. Se presentan estereotipos basados en los modelos patriarcales aún existentes que alienan y dirigen al “consumo de los cuerpos”, indicando la necesidad de reinventar la manera de ser y de vivir en el mundo contemporáneo.
