| dc.description | This article analyzes the religious trajectories of three migrant transvestites from small towns in the interior of the country who come to an Afro-Umbandista temple located in the northern of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA). Through their testimonies, the research shows how participation in these non-traditional religious practices, specifically in the kimbanda cult and devotion to Pomba Gira –the female sponsor of this ritual–, provides gender-generic dissidence a space for personal, social and spiritual development in function of the expression and construction of an individual and collective identity. | en-US |
| dc.description | En este artículo se analizan las trayectorias religiosas de tres travestis migrantes procedentes de pequeñas localidades del interior del país, que acuden a un templo afroumbandista ubicado en la zona norte del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (AMBA). A través de sus testimonios, la investigación muestra cómo la participación en estas prácticas religiosas no tradicionales, específicamente en el culto kimbanda y la devoción por Pomba Gira –la entidad femenina patrocinante de este ritual–, brinda a las disidencias sexo-genéricas un espacio contenedor para el desarrollo personal, social y espiritual en función de la expresión y la construcción de una identidad individual y colectiva. | es-ES |
