| dc.description | The strangeness of Blood of Requited Love marks it out from Manuel Puig's other seven novels, not only because it was composed on the basis of the recording, transcription and translation of interviews that he held in newly learned Portuguese, but, in particular, because of the questions it raises regarding authorship, the political economy of sex, sexuality and the national language. This condensation of elements gives it a singularity that can function as a point of reference for studying other texts of the period, that of the 1980s, while the belief in the emancipatory power that assigned literature its supposed autonomy still lingered in Latin American letters. | en-US |
