| dc.description | This article analyzes the particular modulation of the Creole man of letters that Servando Teresa de Mier displayed himself to be in his letters to the historian Juan Bautista Muñoz and the Sevillian journalist José María Blanco White. These documents formed a modern locus of lettered enunciation which allowed Mier to edit the knowledge of the Spanish Enlightenment on the New Spain religious tradition and on the American political ability after the institutional crisis of 1808. Mier resorted to the epistolary genre to configure a transatlantic cultural network which provided a new meaning to the vindicating Creole discourse produced during the peninsular colonial system. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente artículo analiza la particular modulación de la figura del letrado criollo que desplegó Servando Teresa de Mier en sus cartas dirigidas al historiador Juan Bautista Muñoz y al periodista sevillano José María Blanco White. Estas cartas configuraron un moderno locus de enunciación letrado que le permitió a Mier editar el saber ilustrado español tanto sobre la tradición religiosa novohispana como sobre la capacidad política de los americanos frente a la crisis institucional suscitada en el año 1808. Mier recurrió al género epistolar para configurar una red cultural trasatlántica que resignificó el discurso reivindicatorio criollista producido por el sistema colonial peninsular. | es-ES |
