dc.description	The decade of the nineties stands out in the sociopolitical history of Nicaragua as an era of relevant political processes, highlights a historical situation that laid the foundations of a journalistic discourse of strong political and polarizing character that emphasizes emphatically in which the dichotomy of peace / war duality woman / man was associated as antagonistic elements and as an expression of gender relations and stereotypes in force in Nicaraguan society. In this sense, this article analyzes the newspaper discourse of the newspaper La Prensa about the political news of the presidential period of Violeta Barrios (1990-1997) from the analysis of content and discourse, using the informational semiotic model as a theoretical basis for the analysis. Similarly, the gender perspective is used to analyze the gender categories that structured the journalistic discourse around the construction of the image of what would be the first female president of Nicaragua.	en-US
dc.description	La década de los años noventa destaca en la historia sociopolítica de Nicaragua como una época de relevantes procesos políticos, remarca una coyuntura histórica que sentó las bases de un discurso periodístico de fuerte carácter político y polarizador que resalta de manera enfática en el que la dicotomía de paz/guerra se asociaba a la dualidad mujer/hombre, como elementos antagónicos y expresión de las propias relaciones de género y estereotipos vigentes en la sociedad nicaragüense. En este sentido, el presente artículo retoma el discurso periodístico del diario La Prensa alrededor de la noticia política del periodo presidencial de Violeta Barrios (1990-1997) desde el análisis de contenido y del discurso, utilizando el modelo semiótico informacional como base teórica. Del mismo modo se estudiaron las categorías que estructuraron el discurso periodístico en torno a la construcción de la imagen de lo que fue la primer mujer presidente de Nicaragua.	es-ES
