Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of three pieces of advertising that circulate in the media: “What makes you happy?”, “The place of happy people” and “Come and be happy”. We try to show that the concept of happiness is reified in the goods, erasing the historicity and uniqueness of the subject. The analysis shows that an effect of truth and evidence is created: a metaphorical operation which replaces the goods for happiness. The ideology is responsible for providing the subject with substitute objects that vainly try to fill up the emptiness of desire.
