| dc.description | Il saggio ricostruisce, nell'ambito del fenomeno migratorio giapponese diretto in America Latina tra il XIX e il XX secolo, il modesto flusso di emigranti che si diresse verso la Repubblica Orientale dell'Uruguay, individuando le aree giapponesi di provenienza e i dipartimenti uruguayani di accoglienza. L’articolo evidenzia il ruolo svolto dalla piccola comunità Issei (giapponesi di prima generazione) che trovò occupazione soprattutto nel settore della floricoltura. I giapponesi, infatti, subentrarono alle famiglie italiane immigrate nella gestione di questo settore, tanto che negli anni novanta del secolo scorso i Nikkei (emigrati giapponesi e loro discendenti) controllavano l'80% della produzione totale di fiori del piccolo Paese latino-americano. | it-IT |
| dc.description | The essay reconstructs, within the framework of the Japanese migratory phenomenon directed towards Latin America between the 19th and 20th centuries, the modest flow of emigrants that headed towards the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, identifying the Japanese areas of origin and the Uruguayan departments of reception. The essay highlights the role played by the small Issei community (first generation Japanese) who found employment mainly in the floriculture sector. The Japanese, in fact, took over from the Italian immigrant families in the management of this sector, so much so that in the 1990s the Nikkei (Japanese emigrants and their descendants) controlled 80% of the total flower production of the small Latin American country. | en-US |
