Growing urbanization entails increases in pollution and cost of living. These aspects could affect the level of subjective well-being of the inhabitants. Therefore, this paper analyses the influence of city size and environmental management on the subjective well-being of Ecuadorian population. Using individual and county-level variables, an Ordinal Logit model is estimated. The results suggest that individuals living in the most populated cantons are less likely to have a higher level of life satisfaction. This effect varies according to the area where people live. Moreover, the effect of adequate solid waste management is positive for the life satisfaction of inhabitants.
