The Courant catalogue is one of the three catalogues published in the last century by the French sinologist Maurice Courant that collected a large part of the Chinese Buddhist books preserved in the National Library of France. Its contribution both to the library itself and to the scientific field is evident from the fact that researchers today continue to cite these catalogues in their works. This work focuses on the study of some of the Buddhist books included in this catalogue, in particular the series that covers the call numbers from Chinois 5727 to Chinois 6073, most of which deal with the Mahāyāna sutras, with the exception of the mixed sutras. The term sutra refers to the discourses of the Buddha, while the Mahāyāna sutra is the general term for the writings of Mahāyāna Buddhism. Based on this catalogue and taking some books of the Mahāyāna sutras as examples, the classification used by Courant and his thematic organisation of them is investigated. Maurice Courant completed the catalogue in the early 20th century, using a Western rather than a Chinese classification system. At that time there was no specific classification for Buddhist books and the proportion of Buddhist books in the traditional classification of Chinese books is small. Some of the categories of the sutras in Courant's catalogue are erroneous for various objective and subjective reasons, which are explained throughout the paper.El catálogo de Courant es uno de los tres catálogos publicados en el siglo pasado por el sinólogo francés Maurice Courant que recoge una gran parte de los libros chinos del budismo conservados en la Biblioteca Nacional de Francia. Su contribución tanto para la propia biblioteca como para el ámbito científico es evidente como prueba el hecho de que en la actualidad los investigadores continúan citando estos catálogos en sus obras. Este trabajo se centra en el estudio de algunos libros budistas recogidos en este catálogo, en concreto la serie que abarca las signaturas comprendidas entre Chinois 5727 y Chinois 6073 y que en su mayoría se ocupa de los sutras Mahāyāna, excepto los sutras mixtos. El término sutra se refiere a los discursos del Buda, mientras que el Mahāyāna sutra es el término general para los escritos del budismo Mahāyāna. Basándonos en este catálogo y tomando algunos libros de los sutras Mahāyāna como ejemplos, se investiga la clasificación utilizada por Courant y la organización temática que hace de los mismos. Maurice Courant finalizó el catálogo a principios del siglo XX, utilizando un sistema de clasificación occidental y no uno chino. En esa época no había una clasificación específica para los libros budistas y la proporción de estos en la clasificación tradicional de libros chinos es escasa. Algunas de las categorías de los sutras del catálogo de Courant son erróneas por distintos motivos tanto objetivos como subjetivos que se explican a lo largo del trabajo.
