Abstract: In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Spanish fishing and fishermen were engaged in a process of technical, economic and social transformation that was partly leading them towards the industrialization of the industry and towards the proletarianization of their workers. However, in the artistic representations of the literature, painting and cinema of fishing and fishermen, these economic and social changes tended to appear rather blurred and overlapped by the images typical of traditional fishing. How and why this was so in the three artistic manifestations is the object of this study?A finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX la pesca y los pescadores españoles estaban inmersos en un proceso de transformaciones técnicas, económicas y sociales que en parte les estaba llevando hacia la industrialización del sector y hacia la proletarización de sus trabajadores. Sin embargo, en las representaciones artísticas que entonces hicieron la literatura, la pintura y el cine de la pesca y de los pescadores esos cambios económicos y sociales tendieron a aparecer bastante difuminados y solapados por las imágenes típicas de la pesca tradicional. ¿Cómo y por qué eso fue así en las tres manifestaciones artísticas aludidas es el objeto de este estudio?Distorted images?
