| dc.description | El trabajo toma como pretexto dos biografías políticas que sintetizan el debate intelectual sobre el futuro del socialismo inglés durante el siglo XIX, para revisar un período que se extiende desde la emergencia del primer partido que se autodenomina a sí mismo «socialista» (1881) hasta la publicación de los Fabian Essays (1889), cuando las ideas colectivistas provocan un cambio generacional en la Sociedad Fabiana que será determinante para comprender la posterior aparición del Partido Laborista. Concluimos que la tradición del socialismo inglés no descansa únicamente en su apuesta por la determinación de las relaciones de producción en las decisiones políticas, sino en la defensa de un conjunto de valores que no son exclusivos de una tradición ideológica, sino que se presentan —al menos en alguna forma o grado— entrelazados y dispersos por el ambiente intelectual de este período. | es-ES |
