| dc.description | In this article I focus on how the Spanish feminist writer María Martínez Sierra (1874-1974) brings to the surface one of the themes on which the author will reflect most intensely during her exile in Argentina: the old age of women and the significance of work at that stage of life. For Martínez Sierra, work in old age is not only a means of subsistence, but also a way of actively participating in society and one of the focal points of her feminist thinking through her cultural productions. I argue that, despite the scant attention paid by critics to her contributions to radio and women's magazines, a careful reading of some of these materials shows that Martínez Sierra's feminist militancy continues in exile and is resituated in these media, paying special attention to the issue of old age in women. | en-US |
| dc.description | En este artículo me centraré en cómo el exilio americano de la escritora feminista española María Martínez Sierra (1874-1974) hace emerger uno de los temas sobre los que la autora reflexionará con más intensidad durante su estancia en Argentina: la vejez de la mujer y la significación del trabajo en esa etapa de la vida. El trabajo en la vejez es para Martínez Sierra, además de un medio de subsistencia, una forma de participar activamente en la sociedad y uno de los focos hacia donde derivará su pensamiento feminista a través de sus producciones culturales. Mi hipótesis es que, pese a la escasa atención por parte de la crítica a sus contribuciones radiales y en revistas para mujeres, una lectura atenta de algunos de estos materiales muestra que la militancia feminista de Martínez Sierra continúa en el exilio y se resitúa en estos medios, prestando especial atención a la cuestión de la vejez en las mujeres. | es-ES |
