dc.description	The first decades of the twentieth century in Argentina saw the confluence of two processes that marked the field of plastic arts: the question about the characteristics of a “national art” and the inclusion of the applied arts in local aesthetic debates. Although independent, both had a fruitful dialogue; we believe that this confluence boosted their development, since it enabled a productive review of an available past to create a “national art” and, at the same time, expanded the visibility of applied arts from which to build a “native ornamental style”. This paper aims to trace the debates and critical texts, the decorative arts manuals and exhibited works, in a scenario where modernity and tradition approached each other in a unique way.	en-US
dc.description	Las primeras décadas del siglo xx en Argentina vieron la confluencia de dos procesos que signaron al campo de las artes plásticas: la pregunta por las características de un “arte nacional” y el ingreso de las artes aplicadas a los debates estéticos. Aunque independientes, ambostuvieron un diálogo fecundo; creemos que esta confluencia potenció su desarrollo, dado que posibilitó una revisión en clave productiva de un pasado disponible para erigir un “arte nacional” y, al mismo tiempo, expandió la visibilidad de las artes aplicadas desde donde construirun “estilo ornamental autóctono”. Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo rastrear debates y textos críticos, manuales decorativos y obras exhibidas, en un escenario donde modernidad y tradición se acercaron de un modo singular	es-ES
