dc.description	Para América Latina la occidentalización constituye una primera ganancia: por medio de la concreción de ese proceso, las sociedades latinoamericanas le han impuesto una especie de hándicap al Primer Mundo, pues los Estados-Nación, al asumir el modelo de vida, de cultura y de gobierno occidental, le han plantado al Norte un modo de resistencia frente al pensamiento hegemónico. Eso les ha posibilitado la sobrevivencia y el desarrollo como mecanismo dentro de los cánones occidentales: el Sur con sus especificidades, pero en clave occidental. Esa realidad puede ser traducida en la occidentalización ancestral de América Latina como un proceso dialéctico y ambivalente que consigue un acabado en la decisión de construir una región que en cuestiones de producción simbólica y de identidad entienda que existir y crecer es preciso parta de mirar de frente al Occidente desarrollado con las técnicas y la tecnología del propio Occidente opulento. ABSTRACTFor Latin America, westernization constitutes a first gain: through the concretion of this process, Latin American societies have imposed a kind of handicap on the First World, since the Nation-States, by assuming the model of life, culture and Western government, they have planted in the North a mode of resistance against hegemonic thought. This has enabled them to survive and develop as a mechanism within Western canons: the South with its specificities, but in a Western key. This reality can be translated into the ancestral westernization of Latin America as a dialectical and ambivalent process that achieves a conclusion in the decision to build a region that, in matters of symbolic production and identity, understands that existing and growing is necessary starting from looking straight ahead. The West developed with the techniques and technology of the affluent West itself.	es-ES
