| dc.description | Esta dissertação busca compreender e problematizar os significados que usuários de drogas submetidos a tratamento em um Centro de Recuperação religioso na cidade de Juazeiro – BA, os seus familiares e os fiéis que atuam dentro da instituição atribuem à conversão religiosa, e de que forma essa se relaciona com a reconstrução das percepções depreciativas imputadas a esses sujeitos rotulados como drogados. A conversão religiosa no contexto estudado constitui-se como o único caminho para a necessária “libertação” do “mundo das drogas”. No entanto, especialmente na perspectiva de alguns desses usuários, a conversão religiosa, além de garantir a “libertação” do “mundo das drogas”, ou seja, a manutenção da sobriedade/abstinência, também aparece como melhor caminho para que a família, os amigos, os vizinhos e, de um modo geral, a comunidade em que faz parte, reconheçam que eles estão em busca de uma transformação radical em suas vidas. Dessa maneira, a conversão religiosa também é concebida, por alguns dos meus interlocutores, como um processo que possibilita não apenas uma transformação em termos de valores, crenças e comportamentos, mas também possibilidade de (re) construções das percepções depreciativas atribuídas a eles, não somente por parte da família, amigos, vizinhos e da comunidade que eles fazem parte, mas, especialmente, para o próprio usuário. A descrição, dessa forma, centrar-se nos discursos constituídos/proferidos por instâncias religiosas, pela biomedicina e a esfera jurídico-penal que tenderam a atribuir aos usuários, na contemporaneidade, identificações sociais, respectivamente, de pecadores, doentes e criminosos e na compreensão do enredo da conversão religiosa desses sujeitos em tratamento como um processo atravessado por dilemas, incertezas, medos, sofrimento e intermediações sociais e simbólicas. | |

| dc.description | This dissertation seeks to understand and problematize the meanings that drug users undergoing treatment at a Religious Recovery Center in the city of Juazeiro - BA, their families and the faithful who work within the institution attribute to religious conversion, and in what form this Relates to the reconstruction of the depreciative perceptions imputed to these subjects labeled as drug addicts.
