| dc.description | O objetivo desta tese foi analisar a narrativa e o discurso sobre a morte entre os judeus do Recife enquanto evento social, relacionado ao ciclo da vida, que afeta o grupo, e suas implicações nas experiências coletivas e individuais, considerando-se também o luto e o pós-morte. Trata-se de um estudo que busca contribuir para o debate contemporâneo sobre a antropologia da morte e as compreensões antropológicas sobre o morrer e o luto em um determinado grupo social. Neste estudo, enfatizam-se entendimentos que têm um valor destacado, dada a importância no judaísmo, a saber: imortalidade da alma, ressurreição, reencarnação e mundo vindouro. Utilizou-se, nesse estudo, das metodologias qualitativas, principalmente aquelas de caráter etnográfico baseadas na observação participante, realização de entrevistas e depoimentos com integrantes da comunidade judaica recifense. Ainda como material empírico para realização deste estudo foram utilizados filmes que abordam a morte e o morrer no judaísmo, bem como fotografias produzidas pelo pesquisador e cedidas pelos entrevistados. Este estudo aponta principalmente para uma transformação comportamental do grupo social em questão que, ao contrário do que ocorria em um passado recente, não se enxerga como essencialmente religioso praticante, mas extremamente ligado às tradições centenárias judaicas sobre a morte e o luto. | |
| dc.description | The goal of this thesis is to analyze the narrative and discussion about the death of the Jewish people in Recife as a social event, related to the cycle of life that affects the group and its implications on the collective and individual experiences, also considering the mourning and after death. This study would like to contribute to the contemporary debate about the anthropology of death and all the anthropologic comprehensions about death in a specific social group. This study emphasizes understandings that carries an outstanding value because of its importance in Judaism, the knowledge: the immortality of the soul, resurrection, reincarnation and the next realm. This study utilized the qualitative methodologies, especially the ones of ethnographic aspects based on the observation of the participants through interviews and testimonies from the Jewish community in Recife. This study also utilized, as empiric materials, films that talk about death and the act of dying in Judaism, as well as photographs produced by the researcher and others released by the interviewed parties. This study points mainly to the transformation in the behavior of the social group being researched that, on the contrary of what used to happen in recent past, it is not seen as an essentially religious practice, but extremely related to the centenary Jewish traditions about death and mourning. | |
