dc.description	This research article aims to identify the conceptions that trainee teachers have about the motivations for choosing undergraduate programs. The methodological approach was oriented on the quantitative paradigm and a survey was applied to 255 students from two undergraduate programs offered at the Faculty of Education of a Colombian public university. The results show that the students’ conceptions focus on the interest in developing pedagogical skills that make them competent in the exercise of their profession and thus contribute from their daily work to the transformation of educational systems.
