dc.description	This research article aimed to carry out a comparative analysis of the causes of student desertion in two Colombian border cities with the presence of a vulnerable population. The methodological approach of the study was oriented under the quantitative-correlational paradigm and a census survey applied to 25,969 children and young people from the cities of Cúcuta - Norte de Santander and Tumaco - Nariño was used as an instrument. The findings show that more than 56% of the children and young people participating in the research are not high school graduates or attend the formal school system. Likewise, it was determined that the main cause of student desertion in the two cities is economic problems in families.	en-US
dc.description	El presente artículo de investigación pretende realizar un análisis comparativo de las causas de deserción estudiantil en dos ciudades fronterizas colombianas con presencia de población en condición de vulnerabilidad. El enfoque metodológico del estudio se orientó bajo el paradigma cuantitativo - correlacional y se utilizó como instrumento una encuesta censal aplicada a 25.969 niños y jóvenes de las ciudades de Cúcuta – Norte de Santander y Tumaco – Nariño. Los hallazgos evidencian que más del 56% de los niños y jóvenes participantes de la investigación no son bachilleres ni asisten al sistema escolar formal. Así mismo, se logró determinar que la principal causa de la deserción estudiantil en las dos ciudades son los problemas económicos en las familias.	es-ES
