| dc.description | The adult immigrant who arrives in a foreign country needs to recreate his points of reference, to find a new balance and learn the language. The aim of this article is to point out how motivation plays a decisive role in language learning and how this is one of the key factors of integration. For this reason, a questionnaire was given to teachers and students of an adult school in Siracusa. A qualitative data analysis has shown that teachers, without adequate training and a common methodology, have taken up a path of improvement and greater collaboration. Students, on the other hand, feeling more confident and convinced of the positive action of the courses attended, have increased contacts with the natives and with the work place. In conclusion it can be said that, despite the lack of consolidated teaching strategies in the Italian school system and the difficulties related to learning a second language for adult immigrants, the motivation and the need to integrate into the social and working context of their welcoming have encouraged the achievement of a basic level of linguistic knowledge. | en-US |
| dc.description | El inmigrante adulto que llega a un país extranjero tiene necesidad de reconstituir sus puntos de referencia, de reencontrar un equilibrio y de aprender la lengua. El objetivo de este artículo es evidenciar como la motivación tiene un rol determinante en el aprendizaje de la lengua y como ésta última representa uno de los factores clave de la integración. Por esto ha sido suministrado un cuestionario a docentes y estudiantes de una escuela para adultos en Siracusa. Desde el análisis cualitativo de los resultados se ha puesto en evidencia que los docentes, no teniendo una adecuada formación ni una metodología común, han emprendido una vía de mejora y de mayor colaboración. Los estudiantes, por otra parte, sintiéndose mas seguros y convencidos de la acción positiva de los cursos frecuentados, han incrementado los contactos con los nativos y con el mundo laboral. Se puede concluir diciendo que, a pesar de la falta de estrategias de enseñanza consolidadas en el sistema escolar italiano y de las dificultades unidas al aprendizaje de un segundo idioma para el inmigrante adulto, la motivación y la necesidad de integrarse en el contexto social y laboral de acogida han favorecido el logro de un nivel básico del conocimiento de la lengua. | es-ES |
