dc.description	The development of critical thinking skills among trainee teachers is essential based on the idea that teaching is a decision-making activity. This article presents the results of a research study conducted in a normal school for English middle school teachers in Puebla, Mexico. The main aim of it is to propose a teaching training strategy, based on the critical thinking theory, to help trainee middle school English teacher students to improve their daily performanceduring their internship under the communicative approach principles. The study used a preexperimentaldesign in the scope of quantitative methodology. The population participating in this research was a single group of 12 participants observed and evaluated before and after an intervention using a performance evaluation rubric for data collection. It was found that the intervention helped to improve teaching by changing practices commonly used by English student teachers that include teacher center classes, the use of mother tongue as the main language of communication, grammar contentbased classes, and the lack of opportunities for students to develop communicative skills.	en-US
dc.description	El desarrollo del pensamiento crítico en docentes en formación inicial es crucial, considerando que el trabajo en el aula es una constante toma de decisiones sobre el qué y cómo de la enseñanza. Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio realizado con doce docentes en formación inicial de inglés de secundaria quecursaban el último año de su preparación en una escuela normal de la ciudad de Puebla, México. El objetivo es proponer una estrategia basada en principios de la teoría del pensamiento crítico que permita desarrollar la enseñanza del inglés bajo enfoque comunicativo durante el proceso inserción al quehacer docente en condiciones reales de trabajo. El estudio de tipo cuantitativo, pre experimental empleó unarúbrica de desempeño docente diseñada para la recopilación de datos antes y después de una propuesta de intervención. Dicha intervención mejoró sustancialmente la práctica de los docentes en formación caracterizada por la enseñanza apoyada en lengua madre, clases de alto contenido gramatical centradas en el docente, y carencia de oportunidades para el desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas entre alumnos.	es-ES
