The purpose of this work was to determine the impact of reading strategies called Reading Path in the development of reading competence in English with fourth semester students from the Complementary Training Program at Normal Superior Educational Institution from Sincelejo. As a research method, a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was implemented. For the pre-test and post-test, the reading section of a Cambridge Key English Test (KET) was used. There was applied a pre-test and after the mediation, it was analyzed whether the application of the reading strategies instruction in reading comprehension processes in English produces positive results in the group which the intervention was implemented; subsequently, it was considered if there was an improvement reflected in the post-test. Other information collection instruments used were field diaries. The results obtained revealed that the students from the experimental group considerably increased their score on the KET, so the calculation of the correlation and a test of contrast between the scores obtained in the initial and final tests was performed. They showed a positive direct correlation of 0.498, being this significant (p <0.05), therefore, it can be established that the students improved their performance on the post-test. Accordingly, it was concluded there are significant differences (p <0.01) among the means of the scores obtained by the students of the experimental group in the final reading comprehension test in English (Post-test) compared to the results of the initial test (Pre-test).  El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar el impacto del conjunto de estrategias de lectura - Reading Path en el desarrollo de competencia lectora en inglés en estudiantes de cuarto semestre del Programa de Formación Complementaria de la Institución Educativa Normal Superior de Sincelejo. Se trabajó desde un diseño cuasi-experimental con grupo control no equivalente. Para el pre-test y post- test se usó sección de lectura de una prueba Key English Test (KET) de la Universidad de Cambridge. Se aplicó un pre test y luego de la mediación, se analizó si la aplicación de la instrucción de estrategias lectoras en el proceso de comprensión de lectura en inglés produce resultados positivos en el grupo al cual se le implementó la intervención; posteriormente se estudió si se reflejaba un mejoramiento en el post-test. Otros instrumentos de recolección de información empleados fueron los diarios de campo. Los resultados mostraron que los estudiantes del grupo experimental aumentaron considerablemente su puntaje en la prueba KET, por lo que se realizó el cálculo de la correlación y una prueba de contraste entre los puntajes obtenidos en las pruebas inicial y final, ellos dieron una correlación directa positiva de 0.498, siendo esta significativa (p <0.05), por tanto, se pudo establecer que los estudiantes mejoraron su desempeñó en la realización de la prueba Pos-test. Por lo que se concluyó que hay diferencias significativas (p < 0.01) entre las medias de los puntajes obtenidos por los estudiantes del grupo experimental en la prueba final (Pos-test) de comprensión lectora en inglés en comparación con los resultados de la prueba inicial (Pre-test).
