Education has played a fundamental role in the development of generations and in the advances that have been succinct throughout the decades in all aspects of the social, cultural, economic and political life of the country. Therefore, it is a fundamental tool and pillar for the development of human beings, insofar as it guides the processes that allow changing and transforming a dynamic world and facing constant challenges such as the current one. Therefore, the development of critical thinking in higher education institutions becomes relevant and this research was aimed at elucidating the conceptions of critical thinking present in the teachers' discourses of the Pedagogy in Children's Program at the University of La Guajira. Which methodologically was carried out under the interpretative - hermeneutic paradigm that consists in understanding the behavior of the people studied, likewise, the research method was framed in the qualitative approach and the process was carried out from the phenomenological method, to know  the meanings that teachers give to their experience and apprehend the interpretation process to make sense of their daily educational practices and determine how students develop critical thinking in their learning process. Regarding the methodological design for the data collection, we worked with 11 teachers from the University of La Guajira Riohacha, using the technique and instrument to collect the information and the in-depth interview. With respect to the results of this study, when reconstructing the conceptions of the teachers of the Bachelor's Program in Children's Pedagogy of the University of La Guajira about critical thinking, it was possible to recognize that they have a series of limited conceptions around the subject, since they associate it with elements such as creativity and reflection, without having clear the theoretical foundations of the concept. It should be added that, teachers do not practice as such a specific method that responds to specific schemes, objectives and structures. For these reasons, it is recognized the importance of promoting reflective thinking in the institution, that promotes new capacities in teachers to understand the needs of students, and thus improve the coherence between their theoretical conceptions (which must be strengthened through the training); and class methodologies               La educación ha marcado un papel fundamental en el desarrollo de las generaciones y en los avances que han venido sucintándose a través de décadas en todos los aspectos de la vida social, cultural, económica y política del país. Por tanto, se constituye en una herramienta y pilar fundamental para el desarrollo de los seres humanos, en la medida en que orienta los procesos que permiten cambiar y transformar un mundo dinámico y enfrentado a constante retos como el actual. Por lo anterior, el desarrollo de un pensamiento crítico en las instituciones de educación superior se hace relevante. En esta investigación se tuvo como objetivo Dilucidar las concepciones de pensamiento crítico presentes en los discursos de los docentes del Programa en Pedagogía infantil de la Universidad de la Guajira. Metodológicamente se realizó bajo el paradigma interpretativo – hermenéutico que consiste en comprender la conducta de las personas estudiadas, así mismo, el método de la investigación se enmarco en el enfoque cualitativo y el proceso se llevó a cabo desde el método fenomenológico, para conocer los significados que los docentes dan a su experiencia y aprehender el proceso de interpretación para dar sentido a sus prácticas educativas cotidianas y determinar cómo los estudiantes desarrollan un pensamiento crítico en su proceso de aprendizaje. En cuanto al diseño metodológico para la recolección de los datos se trabajó con 11 docentes de la Universidad de La Guajira Riohacha, se utilizó como técnica e instrumento para recolectar la información la entrevista en profundidad. Con respecto a los resultados de este estudio, al reconstruir las concepciones de los docentes del Programa de Licenciatura en Pedagogía Infantil de la Universidad de La Guajira en torno al pensamiento crítico, se logró reconocer que poseen una serie de concepciones limitadas en torno al tema, ya que lo asocian con elementos como la creatividad y la reflexión, sin tener claros los fundamentos teóricos del concepto. Se debe agregar que, los docentes no practican como tal un método específico que responda a esquemas, objetivos y estructuras específicas. Por estas razones, se reconoce la importancia de promover en la institución un pensamiento reflexivo, que promueva nuevas capacidades en los docentes para entender las necesidades de los estudiantes, y mejorar de esta forma la coherencia entre sus concepciones teóricas (que deben ser fortalecidas mediante la capacitación); y las metodologías de clase.
