dc.description	The research was carried out in the Experimental Sciences Majors which included the students of Chemical Biology, Laboratory and Exact Sciences. Most of these students show limited basic competences to make academic writings due to the weak knowledge of reading and writing techniques received by Language and Literature. Proposing literacy as a transversal axis to enhance the skills of future professionals. The objective was to determine the competences of students for academic writing. The inquiry has a qualitative approach, non-experimental design, documentary, and field, supported by the inductive method. The sample was non-probabilistic of intentional type constituted by 160 students. The technique of data collection was the survey with its instrument the questionnaire. The results obtained established that learners have little interest in reading, practice writing just for academic assignments making mistakes or omissions, so they have problems when writing specialized content. It is concluded that they have not mastered the minimum skills to write academic papers according to the level they are studying. dc.description	La investigación se realizó  en las Carreras de Ciencias Experimentales, con los estudiantes  de Biología Química, Laboratorio y Ciencias Exactas, en su mayoría poseen limitadas competencias  básicas para realizar escritos académicos, debido al débil conocimiento de técnicas en lectura y escritura, la orientación recibida por los docentes del área de Lengua y Literatura durante su vida estudiantil es insuficiente, no existe interdisciplinaridad de los responsables del saber.  Proponiendo la lectoescritura  como eje transversal para potenciar las habilidades de los futuros profesionales. El objetivo fue determinar las competencias que poseen los discentes para la escritura académica. La indagación tiene un enfoque cualitativo, diseño no experimental, documental, de campo, sustentado en el método inductivo, muestra de tipo no probabilista intencional constituida por 160 estudiantes, la técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta con su instrumento el cuestionario. Los resultados obtenidos establecieron que los educandos tienen poco interés por la lectura, practican escritura por cumplimiento cometiendo errores u omisiones, presentan problemas al realizar escritos especializados. Se concluye, que no poseen las competencias necesarias para realizar escritos académicos acordes al nivel que cursan.  Recomendando desarrollar talleres de capacitación de lectura, escritura e iniciación a la investigación.	es-ES
