dc.description	The article examines the gender roles imposed on women in Spain under the Franco regime. It revisits Mercè Rodoreda’s 1962 novel The Time of the Doves and deciphers the female protagonist’s silence in the context of the post-Civil War period. Drawing on Julia Kristeva’s conception of the abject, it explores how silence becomes informative of the protagonist’s mental resistance to the patriarchal imposition, the helplessness and powerlessness a common woman feels under the Franco regime, and the gradual growth of female subjectivity.	en-US
dc.description	El artículo examina los roles de género impuestos a las mujeres en España bajo el régimen franquista. Revisita la novela de La plaza del Diamante, escrita por Mercè Rodoreda en 1962, y descifra el silencio de la protagonista en el contexto de la posguerra española. A partir de la concepción de lo abyecto de Julia Kristeva, explora cómo el silencio se vuelve informativo sobre la resistencia mental de la protagonista contra la imposición patriarcal, la impotencia que una mujer común siente bajo el franquismo y el crecimiento gradual de la subjetividad femenina.	es-ES
