This paper describe how to make a first order analysis of data obtained in a research which main goal is to characterize the university teacher practice when he or her is teaching the logarithmic function. For this, we use Atlas.TI software that permits to store the data, categorize them. This analytical process help us to analyze data from a theoretical perspective using the notion of modeling a construction mechanism. En esta comunicación se describe la manera cómo se clasifica y realiza un análisis de primer orden sobre los datos obtenidos en una investigación cuyo objetivo es caracterizar la práctica de los docentes universitarios de precálculo en la enseñanza del concepto función logarítmica.  Para ello se hace uso de la herramienta Atlas.TI que permite almacenar todos los datos, codificarlos, categorizarlos y en nuestro caso, analizar los resultados obtenidos a partir de la herramienta teórica de modelación de un mecanismo de construcción.
