dc.description	The article reviews the two perspectives on the ‘idea of the nation’ in the work of Max Weber. While his contributions to Sociology favor an ‘inventionist’ strategy, in its political interventions the strategy is mainly that of an ‘essentialist’ type. Following the main components of the ‘idea of the nation’, the paper presents twocases of American nations which are examples of both of the author’s analytical perspectives.	en-US
dc.description	El artículo revisa las dos perspectivas sobre la ‘idea de nación’ en la obra de Max Weber. Mientras sus contribuciones a la sociología favorecen una estrategia ‘invencionista’, en sus intervenciones políticas la estrategia es más de tipo ‘esencialista’. Luego de reconstruir los principales componentes de la ‘idea denación’, se presentan dos casos de naciones americanas los cuales son ejemplos de ambas perspectivas analíticas del autor.	es-ES
