dc.description	This article analyzes an important symbol of power among the current Tsotsiles of Chamula, Chiapas: the xbaxton jtotik or ‘the sceptre of our lord’. From the study of ritual practices and discursive genres, that the importance of the xbaxton jtotik comes from the belief that it is a sacred animate object, is evidenced. As we will see, this sacred nature links the xbaxton jtotik, despite having been formally introduced by the Spanish conquerors, with a worldview that dates back to pre-Hispanic times.	en-US
dc.description	En el presente artículo se analiza un importante símbolo de poder entre losactuales tsotsiles de Chamula, Chiapas: el xbaxton jtotik o ‘bastón de nuestro señor’. A partir del estudio de prácticas rituales y de géneros discursivos, se evidencia en particular que la importancia del xbaxton jtotik proviene de la creencia de que es un objeto animado sagrado. Como veremos, esta naturaleza sagrada vincula al xbaxton jtotik, a pesar de haber sido introducido formalmente por los conquistadores españoles, con una cosmovisión que se remonta hasta la época prehispánica.	es-ES
