| dc.description | Por su trabajo en los muesos etnológicos de Dresden y Berlín, Max Uhle había sido influenciado por las ideas evolucionistas de la etnología museística del fin del siglo XIX. Durante su trabajo arqueológico en la zona andina, especialmente entre los años 20 y 30 de su estancia en Ecuador, Uhle se distanció críticamente de las "ideas elementales". Pero también discutió con muchas reservas las teorías de los "círculos culturales" del padre W. Schmidt. Buscando una explicación para el desarrollo de las culturas pre-incaicas desarrolló ideas de una difusión de las culturas centroamericanas, es decir mexicanas, especialmente la maya, al sur. Creyó haber encontrado muchas semejanzas entre los hallazgos arqueológicos de ambas regiones, postulando la anterioridad de la cultura maya. Uhle comprendió la zona maya y lo que más tarde se llamó Mesoamérica como uno de los tres focos de civilización mundial, al lado del mundo mediterráneo y de China. | es-ES |
| dc.description | Because of his work in the ethnological museums of Dresden and Berlin, Max Uhle had been influenced by the evolutionist ideas of the museum-oriented ethnology of the late 19th century. During his archaeological work in the Andean zone, especially in the twenties and thirties during his stay in Ecuador, Uhle dissociated himself critically from "elemental ideas". Nevertheless, he discussed the theories of the "cultural circles" of Father W. Schmidt with serious reservations, too. Looking for an explanation of the development of the pre-Incaic cultures he evolved ideas of a southbound diffusion of the cultures of Central America, i.e. Mexican cultures, especially Maya. He thought he had found a lot of similarities between the archaeological findings of both regions, postulating the chronological priority of Maya culture. Uhle understood the Maya zone and what later on was called Mesoamerica as one of the three focal points of world civilization, beside the Mediterranean and the Chinese worlds. | en-US |
