dc.description	Alrededor del Golfo de Nicoya en las costas del Océano Pacífico de Costa Rica, vive un grupo de pobladores, que son llamados "cholos" por los costarricenses. Esta expresión se usa en muchas partes de Latinoamérica para denominar a los indios y a los mestizos con rasgos fisonómicos indígenas bien marcados. La denominación que usan estos pobladores entre sí es "paisano". Los hombres, como pescadores y marineros, llevan una vida dedicada al mar y consideran a éste como un paisaje acuático, donde se pueden orientar sin instrumentos y sin ver tierra durante cientos de kilómetros. En la visión del mundo de los "paisanos", el mar ocupa una posición parecida a la que tienen los ríos para los indígenas que viven en el norte de América del Sur. Los espíritus que animan su medio ambiente y las reglas de conducta vinculadas a éstos, identifican a los "paisanos" como integrantes de una cultura popular indioamericana.	es-ES
dc.description	At the pacific coast of Costa Rica, around the Gulf of Nicoya lives a population that is usually called cholos. This term is used in many parts of Latinamerica to designate Indians and Mestizos which show many Indian features. The families living at the Gulf of Nicoya call themselves Paisanos which means "compatriots". They earn their living from fishing and the lives of the fishermen and sailors are mainly focused on the sea. The navigators experience the sea as a landscape of water in which they are able to navigate without any instruments or contact to land. In the world view of the paisanos the sea is a factor similar to that of the rivers in the world view of the Indians in the north of Southamerica. The spirits inhabiting the world around them and the rules of conduct relating to them show the paisanos as being part of an Indio-American folkculture.	en-US
