dc.description	This article presents an overview of recent historiography on madness and psychiatry, with a special emphasis on works that examine the narratives of individuals who were deemed insane. The authors of the works under consideration all analyzed patients’ letters, diaries and notebooks. Our focus is on works from Ibero-American countries from the end of the twentieth century until the present, with special attention on major currents and trends in the recent historiography. Two areas merit special attention here: a concern for conceptualization of the words madness and madman and themes and privileged narratives. The goal is to understand both the similarities and differences in historical production across different national realities.	en-US
dc.description	Este artículo presenta un balance de la producción en el campo de la historia de la locura y de la psiquiatría cuyas principales fuentes de análisis son las narrativas producidas por personas consideradas locas, tales como: cartas, diarios y cuadernos de notas. La discusión se centra en la historiografía producida en el ámbito iberoamericano desde finales del siglo xx hasta el presente, mostrando las perspectivas seguidas por los autores, prestando especial atención a dos cuestiones principales: la preocupación por reflexionar sobre palabras como locura o loco y los temas y las narrativas privilegiadas. El objetivo es comprender tanto las similitudes como las diferencias de la producción gestada en los diferentes países iberoamericanos.	es-ES
