dc.description	When Humboldt traveled through Latin America, many indigenous languages were still spoken despite three centuries of European colonialism. While Alexander von Humboldt explores geography and analyzes the Native South American languages, he also takes their speakers (at the same time, inhabitants of the explored geography) in consideration: indigenous voices are articulated through dialogue and speech acts, both in their tongues and in Spanish, the colonial language. As the South American Indian speaks, Humboldt listens. For instance, Indians are able to articulate their own culture, deconstruct language and the power relations that it holds, as well as to express themselves aesthetically. They even collaborate with the German scientist in the production of knowledge. This paper analyzes how Humboldt represents Indians as speakers and, for instance, as active participants in several episodes of Humboldt’s travel.	en-US
dc.description	En el tiempo en que Humboldt visita América, muchas lenguas indígenas aún se hablaban activamente, a pesar de las inclemencias de casi tres siglos de colonialismo europeo. Mientras Alexander von Humboldt realiza exploraciones geográficas y observa analíticamente las lenguas indígenas americanas, no lo hace sin una consideración de sus hablantes, a su vez habitantes de aquella geografía explorada: las voces indígenas se articulan a través del diálogo y diversos actos de habla, ya sea en sus propios idiomas o en castellano, la lengua colonial. Mientras el indígena habla, Humboldt lo escucha. Por ende, el indígena es capaz de articular su propia cultura, de deconstruir la lengua y las relaciones de poder que ésta encierra, así como de expresarse estéticamente. Incluso adquiere la posibilidad de colaborar en la producción del conocimiento científico junto al científico alemán. En este artículo, observaremos como Humboldt representa a los indígenas como hablantes y, por lo tanto, como participantes activos en diversos momentos de su viaje.	es-ES
