| dc.description | En este artículo se aborda una de las biografías de la barbarie escritas por Sarmiento a las que se le ha prestado menos atención: El Chacho. Último caudillo de la montonera de los Llanos, publicada originalmente en los Estados Unidos, en 1868. A partir del concepto de tanatografía se analiza la importancia que la ejecución del general Ángel Vicente “El Chacho” Peñaloza tiene en la narración de esta biografía y de qué modo, a través del texto biográfico, Sarmiento buscó capitalizar un episodio de su trayectoria política que, en un principio, lo había descolocado ante la opinión pública. Abstract This paper focuses on one of the biographies of barbarism written by Sarmiento, which received less attention: El Chacho. Último caudillo de la montonera de los Llanos, first published in the United States in 1868. Using the concept of tanatography, the importance of the execution of General Ángel Vicente “El Chacho” Peñaloza in the story of his biography is analized. Also, it is taken into account how, through the biographical text, Sarmiento tried to capitalize an episode of his political background that, at first, was detrimental to his public image. | es-ES |
