| dc.description | Las innovaciones tecnológicas del siglo xix contribuyeron al desarrollo del ferrocarril, incidiendo en la circulación de bienes y personas hacia destinos lejanos. Esta moda común de las sociedades europeas se desplazó a otras latitudes y Yucatán no fue la excepción. El ferrocarril propició cambios significativos porque la élite local se aficionó a los viajes hacia las recién descubiertas playas como lugares de veraneo y espacios exclusivos. No obstante, cuando el pueblo fracturó la división social en las playas, la élite se trasladó a nuevos lugares de sociabilidad (haciendas y pueblos) como lugares exóticos. Las exclusividades se ampliaron a finales del siglo xix con los vapores y nuevos destinos: Estados Unidos y Europa. Este trabajo analiza el papel que desempeñó el espacio de exclusividad elitista como referente en la elección de sus destinos y en su diferenciación social con el pueblo. Abstract The technological innovations of the 19th century contributed to the development of the railway, affecting the movement of goods and people to distant destinations. This common trend of European societies moved to other latitudes and Yucatan was no exception. Railroad led to significant changes because local elite encroached to travel towards the newly discovered beaches as holiday venues and exclusive spaces. However, when the town fractured the social division in the beaches, the elite moved to new places of sociability (haciendas and towns) as exotic locations. The exclusives were expanded at the end of the 19th century with fumes and new destinations: United States and Europe. This paper analyzes the role played by space of elitist exclusivity as a reference point in the choice of their destiny and their social differentiation with the people. | es-ES |
