| dc.description | The purpose of this article is to analyze contemporary geography education, as well as the educational role of school geography. It considers the historical reality of the beginnings of the new millennium and the concerns for the limited educational impact to counteract the indiscriminate use of territory and the problems arising from spatial organization. Descriptive geographical education is currently implemented in classrooms, limited to the transmission of geographical concepts and notions. This situation led to a literature review and to proposals on Geographical Education and school geography, Geographical Education and educational change in school geography, and Geographical Education in renewing school geography. The article concludes that Geographical Education should facilitate school geography and the explanation of geography community situations, reducing the resistance to innovative change and facilitating geographic education in agreement with the needs of today’s society. | en-US |
| dc.description | El propósito es reflexionar sobre la Educación Geográfica en el mundo contemporáneo y analizar la labor formativa de la geografía escolar. Se asume la realidad histórica del inicio del nuevo milenio, donde preocupan las limitadas repercusiones educativas para contrarrestar el uso indiscriminado del territorio y las problemáticas derivadas de la organización del espacio. Mientras en el aula de clase está vigente la enseñanza geográfica descriptiva, limitada a transmitir nociones y conceptos geográficos. Dicha situación determinó realizar una revisión bibliográfica y estructurar un planteamiento sobre la Educación Geográfica y la geografía escolar, Educación Geográfica y el cambio pedagógico en la geografía escolar y la Educación Geográfica para renovar la geografía escolar. Concluye que la Educación Geográfica debe facilitar a la geografía escolar, la explicación de las situaciones de la geografía comunitaria, reducir la resistencia al cambio innovador y facilitar la enseñanza geográfica acorde a las necesidades de la sociedad actual. | es-ES |
