dc.description	En el plano de los commodities, el estudio da cuenta tanto de las grandes compras de materias primas por parte de China y el déficit comercial de la región junto a una la consolidación del neoextractivismo. En el plano de las manufacturas, planteamos que bajo la nueva división internacional del trabajo, no solo México y América Central sufren la competencia de China en terceros mercados con la deslocalización del sistema de maquila, sino que en países como Brasil y Argentina también se ha resentido el tejido industrial. Concluimos que, si bien algunas naciones han encontrado cierto margen de autonomía frente a Estados Unidos o la Unión Europea “recostándose” en este poder emergente, existen altos costos para toda América Latina y el Caribe en caso de cristalizarse el “Consenso de Beijing”.
dc.description	From a commodities perspective, this study deals with China’s great amount of raw material purchases in the region and Latin America’s commercial deficit, as well as the consolidation of neo-extractivism. From a manufacturing perspective, this article suggests the new international labor division does not only affect Mexico and Central America when competing with China and undergoing the delocalization of the maquiladora system, but it also takes a toll on the industry in countries like Brazil and Argentina. This study concludes that although some countries have seized the emerging power of China to secure a certain degree of autonomy before the United States and Europe, the costs for Latin America and the Caribbean are high, especially if the Beijing Consensus ensues.
