| dc.description | Through this article, I invite the reader to take a second look at the ageing process and old age as a phenomenon and as a subject matter, based on understanding longevity as a revolutionary change of the century. This is carried out from an anthropological standpoint and through a biographical, sociocultural perspective, as well as from the construction of new age identities. Longevity holds a series of consequences that translates into a phenomenon of disciplinary interest that goes beyond chrono-biological reality of living longer; it is a new reality that entails the creation of new models of old age and of the expectations facing advanced age. Within the ageing process, longevity thereby comprises a phenomenon that has important sociocultural implications and, thus, becomes of interest for the social sciences. | en-US |
| dc.description | A través del artículo invito a remirar el envejecimiento y la vejez como fenómeno y como objeto de estudio, a partir de comprender la longevidad como un cambio revolucionario del presente siglo. Para eso me posiciono en la disciplina antropológica y desde una perspectiva biográfica, sociocultural y de la construcción de nuevas identidades etáreas. La longevidad trae consigo una serie de consecuencias que la llevan a constituirse en un fenómeno de interés disciplinario que va más allá de larealidad crono-biológica de vivir más años; es una nueva realidad que conlleva la creación de nuevos modelos de vejez y de expectativas frente a la edad avanzada. Se constituye así, al interior del proceso de envejecimiento, en un fenómeno con importantes implicancias socioculturales, y por lo tanto, de interés para las ciencias sociales. | es-ES |
