dc.description	En este artículo, se reflexiona sobre la prostitución femenina como desorden en los discursos masculinos de las sociedades antiguas del Mediterráneo. Especial atención se dedica al mito de la prostitución sagrada en Oriente, contemplada como una manifestación de la barbarie de ciertas prácticas sexuales de sus mujeres por los autores grecolatinos y contemporáneos; tales concepciones pueden considerarse un ejemplo de los prejuicios occidentales frente a Oriente, en el presente y en el pasado. Esta misoginia de la literatura clásica se evidencia también en las representaciones de las meretrices en la Roma antigua, cuya actividad era juzgada como infamia por las autoridades públicas. El rechazo de la prostitución femenina, en último caso, parece radicar en la trasgresión que implica una práctica sexual no ligada a la procreación. Es decir, el cuerpo femenino convertido en un objeto de placer nunca servirá para alumbrar la descendencia del padre, rompiendo la tradicional función materna con la que se identificaba lo femenino.	ca-ES
dc.description	p class="MsoNormal"This paper offers a reflection on the portrayal of female prostitution as a emdisorder/em in thenbsp;patriarchal discourses of ancient societies in the Mediterranean region. Special attention is given to the description of the myth of sacred prostitution in the East, in which the embarbaric nature/em of certain female sexual practices is highlighted by Greco-Latin and Contemporary authors; the said myth is offered as an example of western prejudices against the East both in the past and in the present. The Classical Literature show this misogyny in their representations of Ancient Roman meretrixes, whose activity was considered as eminfamia/em by public authorities. All things considered, the rejection of female prostitution seems to be related to the implicit transgression in a sexual practice which is not related to procreation. In other words, the female body transformed into an object of pleasure will never be capable of bearing the descendants of the father, thus breaking with the traditional maternal function with which the feminine used to be identified in Antiquity./p	en-US
